My guest on this episode is the new North and South Men's Amateur Champion, Davis Ovard. This might be one of the more fascinating wins in amateur golf this year. Davis is a rising sophomore at Baylor, so naturally we spoke about his freshman season that included a run to the National Championship. We also spoke about his start in the game and how golf has become a "family affair" for the Ovards. But what makes his win so interesting is the opponent he faced in the championship match, Jackson Van Paris. Jackson is a Pinehurst native, as many of you it seemed that the storybook ending was already written well ahead of time.....except nobody bothered to tell Davis Ovard, which might explain how he came away with a 2&1 win to claim the Putter Boy trophy.
