amateur golf, amateurgolf.com, andy ogletree, golf channel, john augenstein, masters, ncaa, pinehurst, u.s. amateur, us open, usga, vanderbilt, walker cup
My guest on this episode is John Augenstein. After finishing runner-up to Andy Ogletree in last year's U.S. Amateur at Pinehurst, he was named to the 2019 United States Walker Cup team that was ultimately victorious against the GB&I squad at Royal Liverpool. My conversation with John was recorded in early April when we knew even less than we did now. We spoke about his practice rounds at Augusta National in preparation for the Masters, the vibe in the U.S. team room the night before the final day at the Walker Cup, and how he has balanced academics with athletics at Vanderbilt.

Our guest this week is the victorious 2019 U.S. Walker Cup Captain, Nathaniel Crosby. This episode was recorded before the matches took place, so it is an interesting conversation with the man that the USGA chose to lead this team to victory at Hoylake. We discussed his experience on the Walker Cup team in 1983, the practice sessions at Pinehurst, and some personal stories that you'd expect from a Crosby.

amateur golf, amateurgolf.com, andy ogletree, georgia tech, hoylake, john augenstein, julie williams, r&a, royal liverpool, the back of the range golf podcast, usga, vanderbilt, walker cup
Our eighth episode in the series takes us down The Road to Hoylake as we catch up with the two young men that squared off in the U.S. Amateur final at Pinehurst. Andy Ogletree was victorious over John Augenstein in the end, but both have made it to Hoylake as members of the U.S. Walker Cup team. We were fortunate enough to grab them both for a quick chat at the Newark airport before they hopped a flight to the UK. Thanks to the USGA for helping us get some time with John and Andy!
